Volunteer to help low income families file tax returns – No experience necessary
Please join current HKS students and alumni for an all-day workshop and get certified to file taxes. Learn the intricacies of the 2018 tax reform and how it will impact the city’s lowest wage earners.
After a one-day training, you will be equipped to help low income Boston residents file their taxes. Tax returns for many of the families means that they can continue to meet rent payments or put food on the table. After the certification, you can volunteer on a schedule that works for you (Please plan on volunteering at least five times).
Please join us on Saturday, Jan. 26 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the ABCD in Roxbury (565 Warren Street, Roxbury, Mass. 02121). Transportation from HKS is available.
If you can make it on Jan. 26, please sign up here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdX0jTz7yiJZ8ICQEeKaiz7TQ1cP0Wd4tAx0x4xX37i0cHmtw/viewform

MORE INFORMATION: The tax code underpins the majority of our public policies in the United States and this is the best way to get a crash course in how the tax code works. We will be working alongside HKS alumni/students and volunteering on a schedule that works for you. VITA is a national program that provides free tax preparation assistance to low- and middle-income taxpayers. If you’ve been looking for a hands-on volunteering opportunity, this is a great way to get involved in the local community from now until tax day (April 15). VITA offers you a real-world perspective on tax policy and a chance to see how policy shapes incentives for individuals and families.
