Policy and Politics in 2021: Re-Set or Re-Deux?

After a tumultuous 2020 election, come hear what’s next as seasoned national political journalists and analysts examine what lies ahead for policy and politics in 2021 as the Biden-Harris Administration takes office and Congress reconvenes.   Our panel will share their insights on how the White House and Congress will shape policy on COVID-19, economic stimulus, racial justice, healthcare, and climate change and how the 2021 political environment will shape the agenda.

Speaker Bios:

Kimberly Atkins is a senior opinion writer at The Boston Globe. She is also an MSNBC contributor. Previously, Kimberly was the first Washington, DC-based news correspondent for WBUR. She has also served as the Boston Herald’s Washington bureau chief, guest host of C-SPAN’s morning call-in show “Washington Journal,” and a Supreme Court reporter for Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly and its sister publications. She has appeared as a political commentator on a host of national and international television and radio networks, including CNN, Fox News, NBC News, PBS, NPR, Sky News (UK), and CBC News (Canada). Before launching her journalism career, she was a trial and appellate litigation attorney in Boston.

Shane Goldmacher is a national political reporter for The New York Times and was previously the chief political correspondent for the Metro Desk. Before joining The Times in 2017, he worked at Politico, where he covered national Republican politics and the 2016 presidential campaign. He also served as chief White House correspondent for Politico in the first months of the Trump administration. Before that, he worked for National Journal magazine, where he covered both Congress and campaigns. There, he won the National Press Club’s Sandy Hume Award for Excellence in Political Journalism for a series on lobbyist-sponsored travel.  He previously covered California politics and government, working in Sacramento for the Los Angeles Times, Sacramento Bee and Capitol Weekly, covering the administrations of both Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Gov. Jerry Brown. A native of San Francisco, he attended the University of California, Berkeley.

Amy Walter is the National Editor of The Cook Political Report, where she provides analysis of the issues, trends, and events that shape the political environment. Her weekly column appears on cookpolitical.com. She is also the host of WNYC's Politics with Amy Walter on The Takeaway, and a regular contributor to the PBS NewsHour, where she offers her perspective weekly on "Politics Monday."
