Leadership Survival Skills Workshop XLIII : Mindful Leadership: The Art of Leading with Awareness

LEADERSHIP SURVIVAL SKILLS

The Harvard Kennedy School has long stressed the importance of leadership in organizations, government, and business.

Regardless of the leadership framework, theory, or practice one might embrace, continuing to explore leadership styles and capacity is critical in becoming effective and balanced in our approach to those with whom we interact.

This Harvard Kennedy School New England Alumni Association program focuses on the development of the skills and strategies needed for addressing leadership challenges.

This program, Leadership Survival Skills, is offered to all interested alumni and friends of the Harvard Kennedy School.

Workshop XLIII: Mindful Leadership: The Art of Leading with Awareness

New qualities for effective leaders emerge every day in today's complex, ambiguous work environment.  The ability to "lead mindfully" - to be highly self-aware, compassionate, and present moment by moment - has become more and more important.

During this highly-interactive workshop, we will:

  • Explore mindful leadership qualities and practices.

  • Discuss how to meet leadership challenges with compassion and equanimity.

  • Engage in a short mindfulness meditation practice.

  • Consider ways to make the practice of mindfulness "stick".
