LEADERSHIP SURVIVAL SKILLS
The Harvard Kennedy School has long stressed the importance of leadership in organizations, government, and business.
Regardless of the leadership framework, theory, or practice one might embrace, continuing to explore leadership styles and capacity is critical in becoming effective and balanced in our approach to those with whom we interact.
This Harvard Kennedy School New England Alumni Association program focuses on the development of the skills and strategies needed for addressing leadership challenges.
This program, Leadership Survival Skills, is offered to all interested alumni and friends of the Harvard Kennedy School.
Workshop XLIV: Leading with Dignity
Location: Your computer, tablet, or other web-enabled device
Date and Time: Wednesday, May 24th, 2023 from 7:00 - 8:30 PM
The desire for dignity is universal and powerful.
It is a motivating force behind all human interaction - in families, in communities, in the business world, and in relationships at the international level.
When dignity is violated, the response is likely to involve aggression, possibly even violence, hatred, and vengeance.
On the other hand, when people treat one another with dignity, they become more connected and are able to create more meaningful relationships.
Surprisingly, most people have little understanding of dignity and the role it plays in resolving conflict.
During this workshop, Dr. Hicks and the group will explore:
What are the elements of dignity?
How can we recognize dignity violations?
How might we respond when we are not treated with dignity?
How can dignity restore a broken relationship?
Why do leaders misunderstand the concept of dignity?
How can we develop "dignity leaders"?
