What helps us find meaning in our daily work and understand its impact on people's lives? Understanding what motivates us is essential in making good personal and professional decisions and managing people in organizations from a humanistic approach. However, the classical and most popular theories describing employee motives have neglected the more noble range of motivations: the ethical and spiritual dimensions that, in fact, are the highest and most inherently human aspirations.
Many of you may remember Manuel Guillén, a guest speaker at several leadership breakfast meetings. An inspirational researcher and facilitator of discussions, he was always happy to share his work and insights about motivation in organizations and the search for a meaningful work-life balance.
The November 19th meeting will honor Manuel who died in April of 2023. Two of his colleagues, Danilo Petranovich (Abigail Adams Institute) and Rita Jácome (Institute of Ethics in Communication and Organizations) will discuss how to create meaning, purpose and a life of fulfilment, not only for ourselves but also for the organizations that enable us to do what we love.
