Our topic will be Challenges and Strategies in Developing Networks of Individuals and Organizations for a Common Purpose.

  • How does one motivate and mobilize individuals and organizations into a network of common interests and action?

  • What are the challenges when no one has formal authority to get people to join or contribute to the network?

  • What are the strategies in working with individuals who have varying interests and motivations in making the network successful?


Sharing their insights and experiences will be the following individuals who have developed networks of individuals and organizations interested in advancing “Learning Cities”:

  • Diane Tabbagh, Chair of the Australian Learning Communities Network, Wyndham Coordinator Learning Community and recent co-host of the 2021 Global Learning Festival

  • Denis Barrett, Cork UNESCO Learning City Coordinator at Cork City Council, Ireland; mentor in the Global and Regional Learning Cities Network

  • John Wooding, UMass Lowell professor emeritus, Lowell City of Learning planning team, and promoter of the North American Alliance of Learning Cities
